How to grow macadamia nuts?

After talking about how to grow cashew, almonds and pistachio nuts, it is time to go into macadamia nuts that are well known for their sweet, creamy and rich flavours. Macadamia trees fruits only after 5 years and only grow in warm, tropical conditions that has high humidity and rainfall. That is why they thrive well in Hawaii, Florido and Australia.
During harvesting season in October till January, the ripe nuts will fall to the ground. Farmers will have to regularly pick them up or even off the trees because if the nuts stay in the husks more than 24 hours, mold will start to grow and nuts will become rancid.
After which, the nuts need to be dried in shelter for at least 2 weeks so that the nut becomes firm and palatable. There is also a second drying process in industrial oven to thoroughly dry them and prevent spoilage.
Macadamia nuts are high in unsaturated fats that can lower cholesterol and are beneficial to our hearts. They contain very rich source of Manganese, Vitamin B1. They also give good amount of Vitamin A, iron, protein, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and folates. Some people love cooking food with macadamia nut oil as it has a sweet and nutty taste. Not just that, fans of the macadamia nuts also use it to apply on hair and skin to keep them young and moisturized.
